The Granby Oak    Granby, Connecticut
The Granby Oak is sister tree of the Charter Oak. The Charter Oak was a large white oak tree close to, less than 20 miles, the Granby Oak. A cavity within the Charter Oak tree was used in late 1687 as a hiding place for the Charter of 1662. The Charter Oak was blown down in 1856. The Charter Oak became a symbol of American independence.
